CompTIA Security+ Certification
Questions or registration: 812-510-7655 · bhayes@owenlib.org
Prepare for the CompTIA Security+ (SY0-701) certification, an entry level cybersecurity credential recognized industry wide, vendor neutral, and approved for U.S. Department of Defense baseline certification requirements. No prior security experience is required: this course is designed to be your first cybersecurity credential.
What you will learn
The course covers all five Security+ exam domains and blends lecture, discussion, and lab activities, so you build both the concepts and the applied skills the exam questions require. By the end you will be able to explain core security concepts and cryptography, identify common threats and vulnerabilities and how to counter them, evaluate secure architecture across on premises and cloud environments, perform core security operations like hardening, monitoring, incident response, and access management, and describe governance, risk, and compliance practices. Plan on 7 to 10 hours of independent study each week between sessions.
