Following the direction and executive order of Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb, Owen County Public Library will require a face mask to enter the building beginning Monday, July 27th.
Currently the library is offering curbside pickup and visits inside the building by appointment.
Here is how it will work.
Appointments
Call the library at (812)829-3392 for your appointment. You will be given a time that you as an individual or your whole family can come inside the library.
Our current hours are Monday – Friday 10-6 and Saturday 9-12
Appointments will fall on the hour and you will be given 30 minutes to browse the library like normal.
During this time, you can browse for something to check out, make copies or use the computer.
Currently the meeting rooms are still unavailable.
Masks will need to be worn inside the building. We will still be using social distancing rules with the public and staff.
Please help us keep everyone safe as we work together to take us back to normal operations again.
Curbside
You will have two options for requesting items from the library.
With a visit to our website owenlib.org you can place a hold on items that you want or you may call and talk directly to someone on staff who can assist you.
When visiting our site owenlib.org to place a hold start by clicking on the green box where it says “Search Our Catalog”. When our catalog page opens, at the top right you will see “Sign In”. Here you will be asked for your 14 digit barcode number from the back of your library card and your 4 digit pin number. If you do not have your pin number please call us. We can get it to you or reset it for you. From here you can select items you would like. Be sure to look at each items availability to see if it is checked out already. To the right of the item there will be a blue box that says “Place Hold”. Clicking here you will be asked to confirm the hold. If you would like to see what items you have on hold or to remove one you can go to “My account” at the top. Here you will be able to see what you have checked out, your list of holds and even change your pin number.
If you are calling to ask for items directly please have you card number handy.
Items will be available for pickup the next day after placing a hold or calling to ask for items. We will call you to let you know when everything is ready and to let you know if anything wasn’t available. When you arrive at the building give us a call or ring the doorbell available and we will have your items for you at the carport bagged up with your name on them. Remember the outside book drop is still the only place to return your material. Please do not leave anything in the carport.
Information
Remember that our current hours are Monday – Friday 10-6 and Saturday 9-12
Due to our thorough cleaning process we will be letting material rest for a period of a few days before it becomes available again. Please keep this in mind when requesting items, as there could be a slight delay.
Photocopies and faxing will still be available. Call us to set up an appointment to take care of that for you, You will need to leave items for us in the book drop and please have an envelope with correct change. No change will be available at this time. We can let you know of the charge beforehand when you call.
We will have a limit on items at this time. A good way to remember this new limit is 10 and 10. You may have 5 DVD’s from each floor as always and then ten other items from either floor. This will make a total of up to twenty items.
Let’s all do our part to help the community and bring us back to where we were before. We look forward to being able to serve you normally again. We will progress through different stages of service as the situation changes.
Thank you for your patience as we do our best to serve you as we also keep everyone as safe as possible.
