The Owen County Public Library is seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Part-Time Library Clerk in the Adult Circulation Department. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with the public and contributing to a welcoming library environment.

Position Details

  • Job Title: Library Clerk (Part-Time)
  • Department: Adult Circulation
  • Reports To: Adult Circulation Manager
  • Hours: 15–25 hours per week, including some evenings and weekends (subject to change).

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform circulation desk duties, such as checking items in and out and assisting patrons with account inquiries.
  • Help patrons locate materials and navigate library resources.
  • Provide basic support for library equipment, including computers and copiers.
  • Shelve and organize returned materials.
  • Assist in creating library displays and maintaining an inviting environment.
  • Refer more complex questions or technical issues to full-time staff.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Adult Circulation Manager.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; current high school students may apply.
  • Strong customer service skills and a friendly, professional attitude.
  • Basic knowledge of computers and internet usage.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and manage time effectively.
  • Physical capability to lift up to 25 pounds and move around the library as needed.

Compensation

  • Pay: $9.00–$10.00 per hour, with potential for a higher rate based on experience or special qualifications.
