The Owen County Public Library is seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Part-Time Library Clerk in the Adult Circulation Department. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with the public and contributing to a welcoming library environment.
Position Details
- Job Title: Library Clerk (Part-Time)
- Department: Adult Circulation
- Reports To: Adult Circulation Manager
- Hours: 15–25 hours per week, including some evenings and weekends (subject to change).
Key Responsibilities
- Perform circulation desk duties, such as checking items in and out and assisting patrons with account inquiries.
- Help patrons locate materials and navigate library resources.
- Provide basic support for library equipment, including computers and copiers.
- Shelve and organize returned materials.
- Assist in creating library displays and maintaining an inviting environment.
- Refer more complex questions or technical issues to full-time staff.
- Perform other duties as directed by the Adult Circulation Manager.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; current high school students may apply.
- Strong customer service skills and a friendly, professional attitude.
- Basic knowledge of computers and internet usage.
- Ability to work collaboratively and manage time effectively.
- Physical capability to lift up to 25 pounds and move around the library as needed.
Compensation
- Pay: $9.00–$10.00 per hour, with potential for a higher rate based on experience or special qualifications.
